ATS-Friendly

ATS-Friendly Resume PDF Structure

Aply generates one standard single-column PDF layout with conventional headings and no tables or images. This reduces common parsing risks but does not guarantee an employer's ATS result.

  • One clean single-column layout
  • Conventional Summary, Experience, Education and Skills sections
  • Text-based PDF output with no embedded profile image
  • Applicant review required before approval or use

Guide

Role-Specific Resume Generation Details

How source profiles, role context, PDF structure, review and plan limits work.

Resume Generation from an Existing CV or New Profile

Start by uploading an existing PDF or DOCX resume, or enter profile details manually. Review the extracted name, contact details, work history, education and skills because the saved profile becomes the source for every generated CV.

Choose a target role before generation. You can also paste a job description. Aply passes the selected role into the drafting service and uses the job description as context when rewriting existing or drafted work-history bullets. It does not invent verified achievements or metrics, and you remain responsible for correcting any draft that does not match your experience.

Single-Column PDF Format for Applicant Tracking Systems

Aply currently creates one standard single-column PDF layout. The generated file uses conventional headings, readable text and no tables, images or multi-column sections. That structure is designed to reduce common parsing risks, but no resume builder can guarantee how every applicant tracking system will read or rank a file.

The PDF can include a professional summary, experience, education, key skills, certifications and additional information already saved in the profile. Aply automatically adjusts the type scale to fit the generated content on one page. It does not offer visual template selection, colour controls, font controls or an inline PDF layout editor.

Tailor a Professional Resume to a Job Description

Role-specific generation keeps one accurate profile as the source. A selected role guides missing summary or responsibility drafts. When a job description is supplied, existing work-history bullets can be rewritten with that context and the chosen tone while preserving the facts supplied by the user.

Aply also returns a match score based on the saved profile and job description. The score covers keyword coverage, profile completeness and profile structure. It is not a visual formatting inspection of the generated PDF and it is not an employer prediction. Missing terms are prompts for a truthful review, not instructions to add experience the applicant does not have.

Resume and Cover Letter Workflow

The resume builder and AI cover letter generator use the same saved profile. This helps keep roles, dates, skills and evidence consistent across both documents. Cover letters are a separate generated document and should be reviewed against the job description before use.

Resume Generation Access, Review and Plan Limits

CV generation requires a paid Aply plan and is subject to the current plan quota. The dashboard shows usage before generation. Each generated resume is stored in the document library, remains unapproved by default and can be downloaded as a PDF.

Edit the source profile when facts or wording need to change, then generate another version. Before a CV can be used by the application workflow, review the generated content before approving it as the default or role-specific document.

Resume Writing Checklist for Job Seekers

  • Check the source profile. Confirm names, dates, employers, qualifications and contact details before generating.
  • Choose a specific target role. A precise role label gives the drafting service better context than a broad category.
  • Paste the complete job description. The builder accepts job-description text, not a promise that any job URL will be fetched.
  • Keep only truthful keywords. Use employer terminology when it accurately describes your experience.
  • Review the downloaded PDF. Check content, page fit and omissions before approving or submitting it.
FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

What does ATS-friendly actually mean?
Aply uses a single-column PDF with conventional section headings and no tables or images. That reduces common parsing risks, but it does not guarantee that every applicant tracking system will interpret or rank the file in the same way.
What file formats can I download?
Aply currently generates and downloads resumes as PDF files. Check each job advertisement because an employer may request a different format.
Does Aply follow Australian resume conventions?
Aply's standard layout omits photos and dates of birth and uses conventional resume sections. The content comes from the saved profile and generated draft, so review spelling, dates and terminology before use.
How does the role-specific variant system work?
Choose a target role and optionally paste a job description. Aply uses the role when drafting missing content and can rewrite work-history bullets with the description as context. The source profile remains the factual base for each version.
Can I edit the generated resume before downloading?
Edit the source profile's content, then generate a new PDF. The current product does not provide an inline PDF layout editor or controls for fonts, colours and section order.
How is this different from a generic resume template?
Aply uses one consistent visual layout and focuses on role-specific content. It can draft missing sections, rewrite work-history bullets with job context and provide a profile-to-job match score for review.
