The Department of Health - Queensland is seeking an Administration Officer to join the Indigenous Respiratory Outreach Clinic (IROC) team. This role is based in South Brisbane and is offered on a part-time, remote basis.

About the Role

This position provides essential administrative support to the Indigenous Respiratory Outreach Clinic (IROC), working collaboratively with nurses, doctors, allied health professionals, and families. The core responsibilities include coordinating appointments, managing patient information, and supporting clinic operations to ensure the delivery of high-quality, culturally safe care. Your contribution will directly impact improved access to respiratory health services and better health outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children and young people.

Under s25 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1991, there is a genuine occupational requirement for the incumbent to be Indigenous to the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community.

About the Indigenous Respiratory Outreach Care Team

The Indigenous Respiratory Outreach Care (IROC) team delivers lung health assessments and specialist care for children and young people experiencing respiratory and breathing conditions. The team collaborates with families and communities to enhance awareness and understanding of lung health and respiratory conditions. Through robust partnerships with local healthcare providers, the team facilitates coordinated care and builds local capability by offering education, training, and ongoing support to healthcare professionals in regional and remote communities.

Key Responsibilities

In this role, you will contribute to delivering quality outcomes for children, young people, and families in alignment with the Children's Health Queensland Leadership Excellence Framework, the Queensland Public Service, and CHQ values. Your contributions will encompass:

  • Providing excellent customer service in a friendly and helpful manner, maintaining clear and confident communication with parents, patients, the public, and department staff across all communication channels.
  • Responding to enquiries and offering accurate advice and support to parents, patients, and colleagues regarding respiratory and sleep appointments/studies.
  • Proficiently managing patient waitlisting, appointment scheduling (including cancellations, re-scheduling, and removals), referral management, and accurate data collection.
  • Experience in managing a high volume of phone calls, emails, and internal correspondence.
  • Completing all documentation related to admissions and discharges in accordance with Queensland Health and CHQ HHS administrative processes.
