The Charters Towers Hospital is seeking a friendly, enthusiastic, and patient-focused Assistant in Nursing to join its Nursing team in a casual capacity.

The Assistant in Nursing provides assistance and support to Registered Nurses and Enrolled Nurses in delivering quality patient care. This involves performing service activities and aspects of direct patient care. The Assistant in Nursing works under the supervision and direction of the Registered Nurse, while remaining accountable for their personal actions in fulfilling their role.

The Location Charters Towers Health Service is a 25-bed facility offering integrated acute and primary health care services through various programs, including community, child, youth and family, mental health, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health, and outreach services. Charters Towers is recognised as one of Queensland's most beautiful inland cities, noted for its distinctive architecture and unique history. This enchanting outback town is situated approximately one and a half hours west of Townsville.

Requirements

  • Highly Desirable: Applicants meeting one of the following criteria are considered highly desirable:
  • Possession of a relevant Certificate III in Aged Care, Health Service Assistant, or equivalent.
  • Successful completion of the first semester full-time equivalent of a Diploma of Nursing course, including all theoretical and clinical competencies.
  • Successful completion of the first year full-time equivalent of an undergraduate Bachelor of Nursing course, including all theoretical and clinical competencies.
  • The successful applicant will be required to complete mandatory competencies at Townsville University Hospital.
  • Shift Workers: Appointees will be required to work all shifts as per the unit roster, which includes participation in an on-call roster.
  • On-call: Appointees may be required to participate in an on-call roster.
  • Driver Licence: This position requires the applicant to hold an appropriate licence to operate a Class C (car) motor vehicle.
  • The applicant ideally will have a working knowledge of software packages commonly used in clinical and management environments, such as Microsoft Windows, Excel, Access, Matrix, and PowerPoint.
  • This is a Vaccine Preventable Disease (VPD) risk role, encompassing Hepatitis B, Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Pertussis, and Tuberculosis.

  • Salary Range: $43.81 - $47.97 per hour (casual rate) (NG1-1)
