Salary: $107,487 to $114,917 + 12% Super & Salary Sacrifice Work type: Full-time, Term Contract (temporary up to 25.6.27) Location: Onsite, North Adelaide

About the Role: This position involves providing nursing and midwifery services across various clinical settings, progressing from competent to proficient practice. The role requires accountability for one's own practice, delegated tasks, and supporting less experienced staff. The Associate Nurse Unit Manager will assist the Nurse/Midwife Unit Manager with leadership duties. These include managing staffing, rostering, recruitment, performance, resource planning, and implementing practice changes, all while fostering continuity and consistency of care.

Key Duties:

  • Deliver proficient, person-centred nursing/midwifery care and oversee daily care delivery, ensuring appropriate patient outcomes and safe clinical practice within the team/unit.
  • Support the Nurse/Midwife Unit Manager in operational, clinical, and educational activities, including service coordination, problem-solving, and change management.
  • Contribute to a positive learning environment through clinical teaching, supervision of students and junior staff, and promoting reflective practice and professional development.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives such as clinical audits, research, and evidence-based practice to enhance patient outcomes and service delivery.
  • Provide shift-by-shift leadership, facilitate patient flow, act as a clinical resource, and promote continuity and consistency of care across the service.

Skills and Experience:

  • Registered or eligible for registration as a Nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia, holding or eligible to hold a current practising certificate.
  • Registered Nurse/Midwife with a minimum of 3 years post-registration experience, or currently classified at Clinical Nurse/Midwife level, demonstrating clinical competence.
  • Proficient communication, problem-solving, conflict resolution, and negotiation skills, with the capacity to collaborate effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritise workload, meet deadlines, work with minimal supervision, and supervise students, enrolled nurses, and less experienced staff.
  • Sound understanding of relevant legislation, professional standards, ethics, quality improvement systems, and contemporary nursing/midwifery practice.
