An opportunity is available for enthusiastic Registered Nurses and Midwives to join Northern Health's casual nurse bank. Northern Health is a primary provider of acute, maternity, sub-acute, mental health, specialist, community, and home-based services within Melbourne's rapidly expanding outer north. Services are delivered across six main campuses: Northern Hospital Epping, Broadmeadows Hospital, Bundoora Centre, Craigieburn and Mernda Community Hospitals Centres, and Kilmore District Hospital. Mental Health Services are also provided at Epping, Broadmeadows, Jacana, Preston, Mill Park, Mernda, and Coburg.

About the Role: Registered Nurses and Midwives with over 3 years of nursing experience in the following clinical areas and current AHPRA registration are encouraged to apply:

  • Emergency Department and Urgent Care Centres
  • Peri-Operative (Scrub Scout, Recovery, and Anaesthetics)
  • Maternity Division (Delivery Suite, Post Natal, Neonatal, Children Unit)
  • Dialysis
  • Medical, Surgical, Subacute wards, and Residential Aged Care

Casual Bank Nurses are used daily to backfill deficits across the organisation within their skill set. As a casual on our Nurse Bank, you have the flexibility to select your available workdays and shifts. The allocation team sends shift vacancies to available casuals based on organisational needs. Bank nurses are required to be available for a minimum of 2 shifts per fortnight and accept regular work when offered. This casual bank offers greater shift flexibility. Individuals local to the Kilmore area interested in working at our Kilmore site are encouraged to apply.

Please note: Recruitment for Mental Health bank is not currently open.

Role Requirements:

  • Commitment to a minimum of 2 shifts availability per fortnight and acceptance of regular work.
  • If currently employed elsewhere, your existing EFT must not exceed 0.6 EFT (48 hours/fortnight).
  • Maintain all Mandatory Competencies when due.
  • Inform the Nursing Workforce Unit of any leave of absence.

To be successful in this role, you will possess:

  • Current AHPRA Registration.
  • More than 3 years of experience in Australian Hospitals' clinical areas since AHPRA registration.
  • Your current Nurse Unit Manager included as your primary referee from your list of referees.
  • Excellent communication, clinical nursing skills, and knowledge.
  • Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
  • A commitment to excellent patient-centred care.

Note: Applicants who do not meet the above criteria and are seeking transition to nursing, refresher programs, or mental health bank will not be considered.
