Clinical Midwife Educator - Women's Health Clinics

Western Sydney Local Health District is seeking a Clinical Midwife Educator for a part-time, onsite position at Blacktown Hospital.

Remuneration is between $60.84 - $62.82 per hour. This is a temporary position until 27.07.2027, with hours of 22 per week.

About the Role Join the Women's Health Clinics team at Blacktown Hospital, where education, collaboration, and compassionate care are central to their operations. As a Clinical Midwife Educator, you will work with experienced clinicians and leaders to empower midwives, support continuous learning, and contribute to positive outcomes for women and families. This role offers an opportunity to influence clinical practice and shape the future midwifery workforce.

Responsibilities include:

  • Working within a supportive and collaborative multidisciplinary team.
  • Delivering education that promotes evidence-based, patient-centred care.
  • Partnering with clinical leaders to strengthen workforce capability.
  • Contributing to a culture of continuous learning, innovation, and excellence.
  • Coordinating and delivering Parent Education services for the community.

Essential Criteria

  • Current registration as a Registered Midwife with AHPRA.

Selection Criteria

  • A Training & Assessment (TAA) qualification, Certificate IV in Workplace Training, or relevant post-graduate tertiary studies in education, or a willingness to obtain one.
  • A Parent/Childbirth education qualification, or a willingness to obtain one.
  • Demonstrated ability to design, implement, and evaluate clinical education at the ward, unit, or clinic level.
  • Extensive recent clinical midwifery experience in Antenatal Care, with a sound knowledge of contemporary midwifery practice.
  • Demonstrated experience in clinical teaching, utilising adult learning principles.
  • Demonstrated effective and high-level communication and organisational skills, including negotiation and conflict resolution skills, in addition to a proven ability to motivate and engage staff in a clinical setting.
  • A strong commitment to the on-going development and enhancement of midwifery practice within a women-centred, multi-disciplinary clinical environment.
