Location: Whyalla (with opportunities in Port Augusta, Port Pirie, or Kadina) Work Type: Full-time, Ongoing Salary: $87,416 - $110,497 per annum + 12% Superannuation + Salary Sacrifice

The Women’s and Children’s Health Network (WCHN), South Australia’s leading provider of care for women, babies, children, and young people, is seeking a Clinical Nurse for the Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS) Northern Country. About the Role: The Clinical Mental Health Nurse is accountable for delivering high-quality mental health care to children, adolescents, and families. This involves assessment, counselling, and education, while ensuring safe practice, collaboration, staff support, quality improvement, and policy alignment.

Key Duties:

  • Directly deliver proficient mental health nursing clinical care to clients and their families using evidence-based practice.
  • Ensure services are delivered in a culturally responsive manner.
  • Contribute to consumer recovery and optimal mental health outcomes.
  • Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams and non-government organisations.
  • Support, guide, and educate other staff using clinical expertise.
  • Lead and participate in research, quality improvement, and policy development activities.

Skills and Experience:

  • Registered or eligible for registration as a nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia, holding or eligible to hold a current practicing certificate.
  • Must be enrolled in an approved mental health course or hold a qualification in mental health practice.
  • Registered Nurse with at least 3 years of full-time equivalent post-registration experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to conduct mental health assessments and therapeutic interventions of a complex nature with children and adolescents experiencing emotional and behavioural difficulties.
  • Well-developed interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to work with individuals and families for positive mental health outcomes and to foster productive working relationships across disciplines.
  • Experience in leadership and direction of student nurses and less experienced staff.
