Clinical Nurse (Rehabilitation Services)

Department of Health - Queensland Location: Rockhampton Work Type: Part-time, Onsite

This role operates across inpatient, day hospital, and outreach services, where you will provide advanced clinical leadership, coordinate patient-centred care, and foster a culture of safety, learning, and continuous improvement. About Us: The Rehabilitation Unit, located on the Rockhampton Hospital Campus, offers subacute services. This specialised area is dedicated to restoring and maintaining individuals' and their significant others' optimal functional levels to support their lifestyle goals. The service moved to a new purpose-built facility in September 2009, featuring 16 inpatient beds and 15 day hospital places (bed equivalents). Rehabilitation Services provides a 24/7 inpatient service and weekday ambulatory services. Outreach services extend to four step-down rehabilitation beds at Capricorn Coast Hospital and Health Service, and Mt Morgan Hospital.

About the Role:

  • Provide advanced-level clinical leadership as a Clinical Nurse, coordinating patient care within a specialty area and supporting nursing and medical teams.
  • Deliver high-quality, evidence-based nursing care through assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation, ensuring safe and patient-centred outcomes.
  • Lead quality, safety, and continuous improvement activities, including adherence to policies, risk management, audits, and participation in service development.
  • Support education and professional development by mentoring staff, fostering a learning environment, and engaging in self-directed learning and reflective practice.

About You:

  • Current AHPRA registration as a Registered Nurse with a valid annual practising certificate (mandatory). Postgraduate qualifications in the specialty are highly desirable.
  • Proven clinical expertise with advanced problem-solving skills and the ability to deliver safe, high-quality, patient-centred care.
  • Strong leadership skills with experience leading and supporting multidisciplinary teams while promoting contemporary nursing practice.
  • Excellent communication and education skills, with the ability to mentor and develop staff, build effective relationships, and communicate confidently with patients, colleagues, and the broader community.

What We Offer: Total monthly remuneration value of up to $3,664 p.m. comprises:

  • An hourly rate between $57.48 - $61.55 p.h.
  • 12.75% employer superannuation contribution
  • 17.5% leave loading
