About the Role

Are you seeking a transition in your nursing career? Whether your goal is to enhance your clinical expertise, gain more flexibility, or simply embrace a new environment, we encourage you to apply. Community nursing offers a fulfilling career path where you will establish strong connections with patients and their families, contributing to hospital avoidance strategies.

Within Community & Allied Health, your wellbeing is a priority. We recognise the significance of work-life balance and may offer flexible working arrangements, such as school hours, shorter shifts, or casual positions. This role provides a 7-day service between 8:30 AM and 5:00 PM, delivering high-quality nursing care in an outpatient capacity, either within our clinic settings or in patients' homes throughout the Port Lincoln region.

Your responsibilities will encompass a range of nursing services, including wound management for chronic, complex, and acute conditions, venepuncture, CVAD management, urinary catheter management, Baxter infusions, stoma management, medication administration, and post-acute care. You will be integrated into a supportive, multi-disciplinary team environment, collaborating with numerous specialist teams.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct, person-centred nursing care and individual case management to patients across various community health settings.
  • Contribute to the development of nursing practice by mentoring less experienced staff and students.
  • Utilise sound knowledge and understanding of the Registered Nurse/Midwife role within a healthcare setting, working effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Manage and prioritise your workload efficiently to achieve care delivery objectives.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives to ensure patient safety and uphold optimal care standards.

What We're Looking For:

  • Current registration or eligibility for registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia for RN1 positions; or at least 3 years of post-registration experience for RN2 positions.
  • Solid knowledge of wound care, including a broad understanding of wound dressings and the healing process.
  • The ability to lead, support, and mentor other nursing staff, including students and enrolled nurses.
  • A commitment to consumer and family-centred care.
  • Strong communication, problem-solving, and conflict-resolution skills, with the capacity for creativity, innovation, and flexibility when addressing clinical issues.
  • The ability to work both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team, prioritising care while meeting deadlines.

About the Team

You will join a supportive, multi-disciplinary team, working alongside specialist nurses in areas such as diabetes, cancer care (including breast, prostate, and other cancers), stoma care, palliative care, continence, community aged care, and NDIS. Our team is committed to fostering your professional development while delivering exceptional care to our community.
