An opportunity exists for Enrolled Nurses within the Geriatric Evaluation and Management and Acute Cognitive Unit at Gold Coast Health (GCH). GCH is a team of 14,000 dedicated professionals providing health care to the Gold Coast and northern New South Wales region.

The Role

This position involves engaging in high-quality, patient-focused nursing care. Responsibilities include:

• Identifying risks and demonstrating escalation skills.
• Applying evidence-based care to optimise patient outcomes and service performance.
• Promoting teamwork through patient and family-first care.

The Geriatric Evaluation and Management (GEM) model offers multidisciplinary, psychogeriatric care with a restorative focus. The Acute Cognitive Unit (ACU) supports older individuals living with dementia and experiencing Behavioural and Psychological Symptoms of Dementia (BPSD).

About You

To be successful in this position, you will require:

• A Bachelor of Nursing or equivalent.
• Registration with the Nursing Midwifery Board of Australia.
• Evidence of vaccination, or the ability to be vaccinated and remain vaccinated against Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Pertussis, and Hepatitis B.
• Tuberculosis screening to determine if a tuberculosis vaccination may be required.
• Disclosure of any serious discipline history.
• Criminal History Screening will be required for new employees (cost covered by GCH).

Salary

• Permanent Full-time and Permanent Part-time (several positions, hours negotiable)
• Temporary Full-time and Temporary Part-time (several positions, hours negotiable, up to 6 months with possibility of extension)
• Base salary ranges from $75,205 - $79,815 per annum, $2,882.60 - $3,059.30 per fortnight, or $37.92 - $40.25 per hour.

The Geriatric Evaluation and Management and Acute Cognitive Unit (GEM/ACU) provides Level 5 services as defined in the Clinical Services Capability Framework v3.2 and is part of the Division of Medicine. The unit comprises 22 sub-acute inpatient beds, with 12 GEM beds and 10 ACU beds, accommodating the care and treatment of older persons through multidisciplinary teams.
