Nurse Educator (Acute Geriatric and Dementia Care)

Location: Southport Work Type: Full-time, Onsite

An opportunity exists for a Nurse Educator specialising in Acute Geriatric and Dementia Care to join Gold Coast Health (GCH). GCH, with a team of 13,000, is dedicated to delivering world-class healthcare to the Gold Coast and northern New South Wales region.

The Role

This position involves providing clinical leadership and expertise at an advanced nursing practice level. You will support the development and growth of the nursing and multidisciplinary workforce through the coordination, development, and delivery of best-practice education in the care of older individuals, specifically those experiencing delirium and/or dementia within acute geriatric settings.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Utilising expert educational knowledge to lead the development, review, and maintenance of education tools and resources.
  • Leading the development, implementation, and review of organisational pathways to support the orientation, onboarding, and clinical progression of both novice and experienced staff.
  • Collaborating with other Nurse Educators, Nurse Unit Managers, Clinical Facilitators, and multidisciplinary teams.
  • Providing expert guidance in conjunction with senior nursing leadership.

About You

To be successful in this position, you will require:

  • A Bachelor of Nursing or equivalent.
  • A Masters or higher qualification in a relevant area is highly desirable.
  • Registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia.
  • Effective computer skills for clinical information systems and other role-relevant applications.
  • Evidence of vaccination, or the ability to be vaccinated against and remain vaccinated for Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Pertussis, and Hepatitis B.
  • Tuberculosis screening to determine if tuberculosis vaccination may be required.
  • Declaration of any serious discipline history must be disclosed.
  • Criminal History Screening will be required for new employees, with GCH covering the cost.

Salary Permanent full-time position with a base salary ranging from $136,538 to $148,242 per annum.

The Nursing and Midwifery Education and Research Unit (NMERU) is responsible for developing a skilled nursing and midwifery workforce to provide evidence-based, person-focused care. The unit operates under the Director of Nursing NMERU, within the Division of Nursing, Midwifery and Patient Experience.
