Registered Nurse (Adult Inpatient Unit)

Central Queensland Hospital and Health Service is seeking a casual Registered Nurse for an Adult Inpatient Unit in Rockhampton.

About the Role: This position involves providing specialist nursing care to adults experiencing acute mental illness within a secure inpatient setting. Key responsibilities include:

• Conducting comprehensive assessments, developing care plans, and implementing evidence-based interventions.
• Collaborating with consumers, families, and the multidisciplinary team to support recovery, facilitate safe discharge planning, and ensure continuity of care between inpatient and community services.
• Leading and coordinating clinical operations during shifts to ensure the delivery of safe, high-quality care for consumers with complex mental health needs.
• Guiding and mentoring nursing staff and students, fostering professional development, reflective practice, and a positive team culture.
• Championing safe, person-centred care by identifying and managing clinical risks, driving quality improvement initiatives, and upholding the highest standards of mental health practice.

About You: To be considered for this role, you will require:

• Current AHPRA registration as a Registered Nurse, with a strong understanding of contemporary clinical practice, patient safety, and quality standards.
• Knowledge of quality improvement, clinical governance, and risk management, with the ability to contribute to accreditation, audits, and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Excellent communication and relationship-building skills, enabling effective collaboration across multidisciplinary teams and the support of positive workplace outcomes.
• Strong organisational and digital skills, including experience with clinical information systems and the ability to analyse data, prepare reports, and support quality and safety programs.
