About the Team: The George Town Hospital team operates collaboratively with a focus on delivering high-quality healthcare to enhance outcomes for consumers, the workforce, and the broader Tasmanian community.

The Position: Reporting to the Nurse Unit Manager/Team Leader and/or Clinical Coordinator/Clinical Nurse Consultant/Clinical Nurse Specialist, this role involves working under general direction and guidance. You will receive support from experienced Registered Nurses and health professionals to initiate, implement, and evaluate nursing care.

Key Responsibilities:

  • In collaboration with the healthcare team, plan, implement, and evaluate patient/client care.
  • Engage effectively with patients'/clients' families and other health team members to support optimal patient/client care.
  • Actively participate in maintaining and continuously improving the quality of patient/client care. This may involve research and evidence-based practice.

Requirements:

  • Registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia as a Registered Nurse.
  • Possess a current Driver’s Licence.

About the Department of Health Tasmania: The Department of Health Tasmania manages a range of hospitals across the state, including the Royal Hobart Hospital, Launceston General Hospital, Northwest Regional Hospital, and Mersey Community Hospital, alongside district hospitals and ambulance services. Details of Appointment: This is a casual, day worker position for a fixed term, working as and when required. The role is anticipated to commence as soon as possible for approximately 24 months. Hours are to be negotiated with the successful applicant.

This selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full-time, part-time, and casual vacancies for a period of twelve months from the date of publication.

Salary: $80,524 to $109,175 per annum (Pro rata). A 12% superannuation contribution is in addition to this amount. This salary range aligns with the Nurses and Midwives (Tasmania State Service) Agreement 2023. Progression to the Grade 4 salary range ($102,439 - $109,175) is subject to a successful application for progression.

Additional allowances may be available, calculated on the salaried incremental point:

  • Post Graduate Allowance of up to 10% based on qualification type.
  • Rural Professional Development Allowance of an additional salary allowance of 4%.

Salary Packaging: Access to salary packaging is available for benefits including living expenses up to $9,010 + $2,650 in meal entertainment each FBT year, plus other benefits if eligible.
