Student in Nursing (Emergency) Department of Health - Queensland Rockhampton full-time, onsite

About Us: The Rockhampton Emergency Department is a high-energy service central to emergency care in Central Queensland. It manages approximately 130 patient presentations daily, providing expert treatment for adults and children with conditions ranging from minor injuries to major trauma and critical illness. As the region's primary referral centre, the team collaborates with the Queensland Ambulance Service and Royal Flying Doctor Service to deliver critical care. The department features dedicated resuscitation bays, a Short Stay Unit, fast-track services, and a collaborative multidisciplinary team, ensuring a varied daily workload.

About the Role:

  • Support Registered Nurses in delivering safe, compassionate, and person-centred care within a busy Emergency Department.
  • Assist with patient care activities, including daily living tasks, complex behaviour monitoring, and prevention of falls and pressure injuries.
  • Contribute to departmental efficiency through environmental resource management and delegated clinical tasks.
  • Develop practical skills by completing Emergency Department-specific clinical competencies under the guidance of experienced nursing staff.
  • Support quality and safety initiatives through assistance with audits, documentation, and maintaining high standards of patient care.

About You:

  • Mandatory qualification: Currently undertaking or have completed, on a full-time basis, the second semester of the second year of a pre-registration university program, or are undertaking the fourth semester of a second-year post-graduate pre-registration university program in a nursing or midwifery qualification approved by the Nursing and Midwifery Board Australia (NMBA).
  • Ability to deliver safe, compassionate, and person-centred care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse.
  • Capacity to work collaboratively within a supportive multidisciplinary team, demonstrating honesty, respect, and a positive team approach.
  • Eagerness to learn, develop clinical skills, and apply knowledge to achieve optimal patient outcomes.

What We Offer: Total remuneration value of up to $81,999 p.a., comprising:

  • An hourly rate between $35.77 - $36.24 p.h.
  • 12.75% employer superannuation contribution
  • 17.5% leave loading
