About the Role

As a Wellbeing Services Employee within the Aged Care sector at IRT, you will be integral to planning, implementing, and supervising programs and activities aimed at improving the well-being and quality of life for elderly residents. This position involves developing engaging and meaningful activities that cater to the diverse interests and needs of residents, ensuring their physical, emotional, and social requirements are met. Your compassionate approach will contribute to enriching experiences that enhance residents' overall quality of life and have a significant positive impact. This role is described as rewarding and enjoyable.

IRT is seeking a part-time employee for the IRT Thomas Holt Kirrawee location, with work scheduled for Thursdays, Fridays, and Sundays.

Your responsibilities may include:

  • Facilitating a range of onsite activities such as bingo, floor bowls, craft, and special events.
  • Assisting in the development and planning of social, recreational, and cultural activities.
  • Supporting residents during bus trips and community outings.
  • Encouraging resident participation and offering companionship.
  • Considering residents' needs, values, spiritual beliefs, and cultural preferences.

To be successful in this role, you will possess:

  • A Certificate III in Aged Care or a recognised equivalent with competencies verified and approved by the delegated officer.
  • A Certificate IV in Leisure & Health, or a willingness to obtain one.
  • A current First Aid Certificate, or a willingness to obtain one.
  • Initiative and creative flair.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • The ability to work collaboratively within a team and prioritise tasks.
  • The capacity to bring joy and brighten residents' days.
  • A compassionate nature, demonstrating empathy and a passion for supporting older Australians to live their best possible lives.
  • Knowledge of the needs of persons living with dementia is desirable.
