Catering Manager
WA Health Murdoch Full-time, Permanent Appointment On-site Salary: HSO Level G7 $127,194 - $135,150 p.a. pro rata
At WA Health, careers are built, passion finds purpose, and your voice finds its place. Are you ready to contribute to community health care? South Metropolitan Health Service (SMHS) offers this opportunity.
Fiona Stanley Hospital (FSH), the southern metropolitan region's major tertiary/quaternary hospital, comprises over 800 beds. It provides a range of health services including the State Rehabilitation Service, a comprehensive cancer centre, a purpose-built mental health unit, maternity, paediatric and neonatal services, and the State Adult Burns Service. FSH also offers specialised services such as heart and lung transplantations and hyperbaric medicine. SMHS delivers quality, safe, and effective hospital and health services across an area exceeding 3300 square kilometres in the southern half of Perth, guided by the vision of "Excellent health care, every time."
SMHS is seeking a Catering Manager to lead the operational effectiveness of Food Service functions, ensuring high-quality, safe, and cost-effective food provision.
This senior leadership role involves the end-to-end operational management of patient catering services within a complex tertiary healthcare environment. The service provides six meals daily and approximately 72,000 cold-plated meals per month using regenerative food systems. You will manage a multidisciplinary workforce of over 120 staff, ensuring services consistently meet diverse dietary requirements, strict allergen controls, and IDDSI-compliant texture-modified standards.
You are an experienced catering or food service leader with strong operational expertise and the ability to confidently operate within a large-scale, highly regulated environment. Your leadership style is clear, supportive, and adaptable, enabling you to lead teams through complexity and change while maintaining high standards of performance and compliance. A sound understanding of food production and food safety systems will establish credibility with frontline teams and stakeholders.
You will demonstrate the ability to balance workforce demands, service delivery requirements, and operational constraints, while continuously driving improvement and adapting practices across healthcare or similarly regulated settings. Experience in healthcare, aged care, or institutional catering is highly regarded; however, candidates from other industries are encouraged to apply if they can demonstrate safe, patient-focused service delivery. Experience with automated menu systems will be advantageous.
SMHS values guide all actions, including recruitment and employment. SMHS encourages Aboriginal people, people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds, LGBTI communities, and people with disability to work with them. Age, race, gender, religion, sexual orientation, and family/carer responsibilities are not barriers to contributing your expertise.
