The Oaks Hotel Motel is seeking an experienced and passionate Chef for a full-time, onsite role at their establishment in Albion Park Rail, NSW. This position involves crafting high-quality dishes to uphold the establishment's reputation and contributing to exceptional dining experiences, while ensuring efficient kitchen operations and adherence to food safety and presentation standards.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Preparing and cooking a range of dishes according to established recipes and plating standards.
  • Managing food preparation, cooking times, and temperatures to ensure consistent quality.
  • Overseeing kitchen operations, maintaining a clean, organised, and hygienic workspace.
  • Supervising and mentoring kitchen staff, offering guidance and training as needed.
  • Sourcing and managing ingredient inventory, ensuring produce quality and cost-effective purchasing.
  • Creating and developing new menu items while adhering to the hotel's culinary standards.
  • Ensuring compliance with food safety regulations and health and hygiene requirements.
  • Liaising with front-of-house staff to facilitate smooth service and guest satisfaction.
  • Monitoring and managing food wastage, portion control, and kitchen efficiency.
  • Maintaining current knowledge of food trends and culinary techniques.

What we're looking for:

  • Formal culinary qualification or substantial experience working in a professional kitchen environment.
  • Proven experience as a Chef or Senior Cook in a hospitality setting.
  • Strong knowledge of food preparation, cooking techniques, and menu planning.
  • Excellent understanding of food safety, hygiene practices, and relevant regulations.
  • Strong organisational and time management skills for a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work flexibly, including evenings, weekends, and public holidays as required.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Commitment to maintaining high standards of food quality and presentation.
