Club Functions Lead Melbourne Cricket Club (MCC) East Melbourne Full-time, Onsite
The Melbourne Cricket Club (MCC) manages the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) and operates as a private club serving a membership of 160,000 individuals across 13 sports. Our mission is to inspire Australia through live sport, entertainment, and culture, guided by our values of teamwork, inspiration, and respect.
The Club Services & Heritage department delivers high-quality service to MCC members and MCG patrons. To enhance member and guest experiences at MCC events and functions, we are seeking a full-time Club Functions Lead to join the Functions & Experience team within the Club Services, Sport & Heritage department.
Reporting to the Functions & Experience Manager, the Club Functions Lead will be responsible for:
- Leading the planning, coordination, and delivery of club functions, including match day experiences, to ensure consistent positive experiences for members and guests.
- Driving operational excellence in all functions through disciplined budget management, structured delivery processes, and effective coordination of internal and external stakeholders.
- Applying a creative approach to all functions and events.
- Liaising with key stakeholders, including those involved in entertainment, AV, and catering.
- Positively influencing the development and implementation of the Club Life strategy.
To be considered, you will be an experienced functions and hospitality leader with a genuine service-oriented style and customer focus, possessing professional personal impact and presentation skills. An ability to build positive and collaborative stakeholder relationships at all levels, both internally and externally, through partnership and understanding of customer needs, is essential. You will also demonstrate a creative approach to your work, a keen eye for detail, and a passion for identifying opportunities to continuously improve the delivery of functions and experiences.
In addition, success in this role requires:
- Considerable experience in a service-based, hospitality, or sporting industry.
- Strong computer skills, including MS Word, Excel, and Outlook, and exposure to customer databases.
- Sound financial skills in budgeting and event/function reconciliation.
- Highly developed written and verbal communication and negotiation skills.
- Excellent time management, organisational, interpersonal, and administrative skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
The successful incumbent must be prepared to assist in event execution and stage management, which will involve working outside normal business hours, weekends, and public holidays.
