Cocktail Bartender Position at Belgian Beer Cafe Melbourne

Belgian Beer Cafe Melbourne is seeking a full-time Cocktail Bartender to join their dynamic team in Southbank. This role is key to delivering exceptional hospitality, with the bartender acting as the establishment's representative, crafting drinks, interacting with guests, and upholding high service standards. It presents an opportunity to utilise mixology skills in a fast-paced, guest-focused setting.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and serve a wide array of cocktails, spirits, beers, wines, and other beverages to a professional standard.
  • Maintain in-depth knowledge of the cocktail menu, beer selection (including Belgian, other European, and local independent craft brews), and suggested pairings to offer expert recommendations.
  • Provide outstanding customer service by engaging with guests, taking orders accurately and efficiently, and ensuring guest satisfaction.
  • Manage the bar station, focusing on cleanliness, organisation, and stock levels, replenishing supplies as needed during service.
  • Operate the point-of-sale system accurately, processing payments and managing cash handling procedures.
  • Adhere to all health, safety, and food handling regulations to ensure a hygienic environment for guests and staff.
  • Collaborate with front-of-house and kitchen staff to ensure smooth service and issue resolution.
  • Maintain a professional appearance and conduct, representing the Belgian Beer Cafe Melbourne brand.

What We're Looking For:

  • Demonstrated experience as a bartender or in a comparable role within a busy hospitality venue, ideally with a significant beer focus.
  • Strong understanding of cocktail preparation techniques, classic and contemporary recipes, and familiarity with spirits, liqueurs, and mixers.
  • Excellent customer service abilities, including guest engagement, professional inquiry handling, and composure in challenging situations.
  • Proficiency with point-of-sale systems and cash handling procedures.
  • Capacity to work efficiently under pressure while maintaining attention to detail and quality.
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to collaborate with colleagues to achieve service objectives.
  • Reliability and punctuality, with genuine enthusiasm for hospitality and the beverage industry.
  • Current RSA (Responsible Service of Alcohol) certification or a willingness to obtain it before starting.
  • Physical capacity to stand for extended periods, lift up to 20kg, and work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and public holidays.

Preferred:

  • Knowledge of Belgian beers.
  • Appreciation for wine.
  • Additional mixology certifications, such as IBA certification.
