Hotel Sorrento, a distinguished coastal venue on the Mornington Peninsula, is seeking enthusiastic and motivated kitchen professionals for casual positions within its Main Dining Room Restaurant.

Cook & Commis Chef

We are looking for:

• Previous experience as a Cook or Commis Chef, with availability for Breakfast and Lunch shifts.
• A strong work ethic and the ability to perform efficiently during busy service periods.
• High-level communication and time management skills.
• A positive attitude and a willingness to learn.

Key responsibilities include:

• Preparation and presentation of high-quality dishes.
• Maintaining consistency and portion control according to recipes and standards.
• Assisting with food preparation and service across various kitchen sections.
• Following food safety guidelines and HACCP procedures.
• Maintaining a clean, organised, and efficient work environment.

Demi Chef

We are looking for:

• Previous experience as a Demi Chef, or an experienced Commis Chef ready to progress.
• Strong knowledge of food preparation techniques and kitchen operations.
• Ability to work independently and efficiently during busy services.
• Excellent communication and organisational skills.
• Commitment to maintaining the Hotel’s culinary standards.

Key responsibilities include:

• Managing and maintaining a designated section during service.
• Preparing and presenting dishes to a consistently high standard.
• Ensuring quality control, portion consistency, and presentation standards are met.
• Supporting and mentoring junior kitchen team members.
• Assisting with stock rotation, ordering, and kitchen organisation.
• Following food safety guidelines and HACCP procedures.

Position Details:

• Work Type: Casual
• Location: Sorrento
• Salary: $35.15 – $49.21 per hour
• Hours: Casual positions available for 20 – 40 hours per week, across a 7-day rotating roster. Full-time opportunities may be available for successful candidates entering Peak Season.
• Start Date: Immediate start available.
