The Role As Duty Manager at Esplanade Hotel Fremantle by Rydges, you will be the hotel's representative during your shift, coordinating operations across all departments. You will champion the guest experience and ensure smooth operations in the absence of senior management. Responsibilities include managing VIP arrivals, guest complaints, and crisis response with a calm, confident, and service-oriented approach.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee and coordinate hotel operations across all departments during your shift, ensuring staffing, standards, and service are maintained.
• Serve as the primary point of contact for guests, assisting them, resolving complaints, and proactively addressing issues with professionalism and genuine care.
• Drive room rate and occupancy outcomes through yield awareness, upselling, and close collaboration with departmental teams.
• Maintain the hotel duty log, report all incidents, and lead the hotel during crisis or evacuation situations.
• Monitor departmental expenses, assist with rostering, and ensure adherence to financial controls and cashiering procedures.
• Direct and support Front Office personnel, contribute to training and development, and keep staff portfolios and checklists current.
• Ensure hotel security, asset protection, and WH&S compliance are maintained throughout every shift.

What You'll Bring

• Experience in a Duty Manager, Shift Manager, or senior Front Office role within a hotel environment.
• A confident and calm leadership presence, capable of taking charge and motivating the team.
• Strong guest relations skills with the ability to resolve complaints diplomatically and decisively.
• Commercial awareness, including an understanding of yield management, room rates, and revenue drivers.
• Sound knowledge of hotel systems, financial controls, WH&S obligations, and security procedures.
• Full working knowledge of hotel computer/IT systems and fire and evacuation procedures.
• A proactive communicator who keeps all departments informed and aligned.
