Salt and Butter Cafe is seeking an Experienced Chef/Cook for a full-time, onsite position at our Ermington location. This role offers a salary of $77,000 – $82,000 per year.

As a vital member of our culinary operations, your responsibilities will include:

• Preparing and cooking menu items, adhering to established recipes and presentation standards.
• Maintaining strict compliance with food safety and hygiene regulations.
• Efficiently managing kitchen stations and organising the workspace for optimal workflow.
• Ensuring consistent quality and portion control across all prepared dishes.
• Monitoring stock levels and communicating ingredient requirements to management.
• Collaborating with other kitchen staff to facilitate timely and accurate meal service.
• Contributing to menu development and proposing innovative dishes utilising seasonal ingredients.
• Maintaining kitchen equipment in good working order and following proper cleaning procedures.
• Providing training and guidance to junior kitchen staff.
• Responding professionally to feedback and adapting to service demands during busy periods.

The ideal candidate will possess:

• A minimum of 2 years of professional cooking experience within a fast-paced hospitality setting.
• Proven expertise in preparing a diverse range of dishes with attention to detail and presentation.
• Sound knowledge of food safety standards, dietary requirements, and allergen management.
• Strong organisational and time-management skills, with the ability to perform under pressure.
• Excellent communication skills and the capacity to work collaboratively within a team.
• A passion for quality ingredients and culinary excellence.
• Flexibility to work varying shifts, including weekends and public holidays.
• A current food handling certification or a willingness to obtain one.
• Experience with cafe-style menu preparation is highly desirable.
