YHA Blue Mountains, located in Katoomba, is a 240-bed facility serving domestic and international travellers, as well as groups. This historic site features extensive communal amenities, a co-working area, ample space for groups and events, and a variety of private and shared rooms. Guests can enjoy a daily breakfast service, with catering options available for groups and meetings. A team of 12 staff members works to create unforgettable guest experiences. We are seeking a Reception/Housekeeping member to join this team.

About the Role

We are looking for a proactive and passionate hospitality all-rounder to join our team. This Guest Services All-Rounder role offers exposure to all operational aspects of our properties, supporting a career in Hospitality and Tourism. This position involves working across Reception, Housekeeping, Guest Activities/Events, and Food and Beverage. With local and Australia-wide development opportunities, this role is suitable for someone seeking to build a foundation in general or property management.

This is a casual position, and applicants must be 18 years or older.

Responsibilities:

• Reception: Welcome guests, ensure seamless check-in processes, and accurately record all accounts and documentation.
• Guest Activities: Create, promote, and plan guest activities and social events to ensure guest engagement and entertainment.
• Housekeeping: Maintain the property and guest rooms to the highest standards, including laundry and efficient management of maintenance or safety issues.
• Food & Beverage: Uphold the highest standards of food hygiene and compliance, including preparation and service of food and beverages, and coffee making/barista duties.
• Health & Safety: Ensure adherence to all YHA Policies and procedures to maintain the safety of yourself and others.

About You

• Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with a passion for providing fun and engaging guest service.
• Ideally, experience in customer service, hospitality, or a similar role.
• Good attention to detail and organisational skills.
• Experience using Microsoft Office.
• Ideally, experience with reservations/POS or bookings systems.
• Flexibility to work a rotating roster, including nights, weekends, and public holidays. Occasional overnight stays may be required.
• RSA certification is essential.
• First Aid certificate is desirable.
• Knowledge of the local area and travel/tourism industry is desired.
