conscious Kitchen is seeking a career hospitality professional for a permanent casual role at a new healthy food and coffee canteen in the Northern Rivers. This position operates during term-time, focusing on weekday mornings through to early afternoon, with no weekend work and closure during school holidays.
This opportunity is for an individual ready to take on a leadership role, setting standards for coffee, managing service, training the team, and influencing kitchen operations as the business scales. The canteen will serve fresh, seasonal, seed-oil-free meals such as smoothies, wraps, salad and grain bowls, alongside high-quality coffee.
Key Aspects of the Role:
- Leadership Track: Lead the coffee station from commencement with potential for expanded responsibilities as the operation grows. Management experience is desired for the appropriate candidate.
- Unique Hours: Weekday mornings into early afternoon, Monday to Friday, with no weekend work and closure during school holidays.
- Growth Opportunity: Contribute to a new business, shaping the role's evolution during its initial term.
Responsibilities:
- Manage the coffee station during high-volume periods, maintaining quality under pressure.
- Optimise station setup for efficiency, including pre-pulling shots and preparing milks (including plant-based), syrups, and powders.
- Train and upskill team members in high-volume coffee preparation.
- Assist with kitchen tasks including food preparation, production, and assembly of wraps and bowls.
- Provide prompt and friendly customer service, processing payments via a tap-and-go point of sale.
- Maintain cleanliness of the station and work areas to food safety standards, including dishwashing.
Requirements:
- A minimum of 5 years’ experience as a lead barista in high-volume, high-flow service environments.
- A current Working With Children Check NSW, or a commitment to obtaining one prior to commencement. This is a mandatory requirement for the site.
- A current food handling certificate.
- Current legal right to work in Australia.
- Current, contactable references.
