Travel Consultant - Retail and Direct - Hybrid (VIC)

APT Travel Group is a leader in developing innovative global travel experiences, encompassing a wide array of cruising and touring styles. We are seeking a full-time Travel Consultant to join our team in Melbourne VIC. This is a hybrid role with a base salary plus superannuation and commissions.

The Role

As a Reservations Consultant, you will operate within our Call Centre, engaging with both Travel Agents and direct passengers. Your responsibilities will span the entire booking process, from initial sales and securing flights, accommodation, and transfers, to upselling and managing all pre-tour booking aspects. You will be tasked with processing enquiries and booking requests efficiently in a dynamic environment. This position requires you to be in the office for up to 2+ days per week.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Making and maintaining reservations for customers and industry partners via phone, chat, or email with a high degree of accuracy.
  • Recommending additional add-ons and tour experiences to enhance customer journeys.
  • Booking flights to complement tour packages.
  • Addressing and resolving complaints and booking issues to achieve satisfactory outcomes for customers.
  • Cultivating relationships with customers and agency partners to provide assurance and foster loyalty.
  • Adapting to evolving situations as they arise.

Working hours are Monday to Friday, 8 am to 6 pm on a rostered basis, with occasional Saturdays and paid overtime. The role includes an initial 3-week full-time training period, Monday to Friday, 9 am to 5 pm (AEST). The commencement date is Friday, 28th August.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will possess:

  • Travel industry experience or relevant qualifications.
  • Ideally, experience working with various GDS platforms and/or booking systems, with a preference for Sabre.
  • A passion for delivering exceptional customer service.
  • Excellent attention to detail is a must.
  • The ability to manage last-minute changes and fluctuating workloads.
  • A willingness to engage in continuous learning and professional growth.
  • A positive and can-do attitude.
