The Role

As a Visitor Services Guide, your contribution will be instrumental in bringing Placemaking NSW precincts to life. This involves delivering engaging tours, talks, and visitor experiences designed to connect people with the precinct. You will share stories and insights, support educational activities, and create positive, memorable experiences that inspire exploration and further learning.

In this frontline capacity, you will manage high-quality customer service within a fast-paced and occasionally unpredictable environment. This requires ensuring the provision of accurate information, maintaining safety awareness, and presenting culturally respectful narratives. A key aspect of this role involves contributing to First Nations programs, working collaboratively with community and visitors to ensure authentic and considerate content delivery.

What You Will Bring to the Role

• Strong communication skills, with the capacity to engage and adapt your approach to a variety of audiences, including children, young people, adults, and individuals with disability.
• A dedication to delivering high-quality, customer-focused visitor experiences in a dynamic setting.
• Experience or capability in presenting First Nations content with integrity, cultural sensitivity, and respect.
• The ability to establish and maintain positive relationships with a broad spectrum of stakeholders, including community members.
• Sound organisational and administration skills, encompassing email management, bookings, and handling enquiries.
• An awareness of and commitment to safe work practices and risk management within a public environment.
• Confidence in utilising basic technology systems to facilitate program delivery and customer service.

Essential Requirements

Aboriginal identified positions are established where Aboriginal identity, cultural knowledge, or connections are a genuine aspect of the role. • Are of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander descent.

A requirement to work to a roster that will include weekends and holidays.

This position undertakes child-related work as defined by the Child Protection (Working with Children) Act, 2012. A valid clearance and clearance number are required prior to commencing this position.

A current Senior First Aid Certificate is required, or a willingness to obtain one prior to commencement of employment.

Placemaking NSW is responsible for the management and care of some of Sydney's most significant harbourside venues and locations. These include The Rocks, Circular Quay, Barangaroo, Darling Harbour, Sydney Fish Markets Public Spaces, and White Bay Power Station. Additionally, Placemaking NSW leads the planning and delivery of the Bays West Urban Renewal Precinct, a state-significant project set to introduce new housing, employment opportunities, and public spaces across 77 hectares of government-owned land, located just 2 kilometres from Sydney's CBD.
