WAIT STAFF - FULL TIME
BISTRO 265 is seeking passionate and experienced Head Waiters and Waiters to join its Front of House team. These are full-time, onsite positions at our new restaurant in Abbotsford.
Occupation Tasks and Duties:
- Presentation and Hygiene: Maintain a neat personal appearance and a high level of personal hygiene at all times. Wear professional and appropriate workplace attire before commencing rostered shifts.
- Communication: Communicate effectively with guests, staff, and management. Seek additional support from management when applicable.
- Point of Sale and Payments: Accurately utilise point of sale software. Reconcile cash from tills with correct balances. Ensure customer orders are entered correctly into the point of sale system and that all consumed items are accurately charged and paid for. Manage all payments with care, ensuring accuracy and adherence to security and safety standards.
- Cleaning: Clean and clear tables. Inspect all glassware and utensils for cleanliness before placing them on tables. Clean walls, windows, and floors as required.
- Occupational Health & Safety: Adhere to occupational health and safety guidelines as outlined in the induction manual and other policies. Report any potentially dangerous situations or practices to the Manager on duty.
- Telephone Handling: Answer the telephone in a professional and efficient manner. Handle customer enquiries professionally and helpfully. Take restaurant bookings according to procedure. Pass on messages for the Manager/Owner/staff in a timely fashion.
- Attitude: Attend work each day, fulfilling all Bistro 265 values to the highest level.
- Service Standards: Maintain service standards as per the Bistro 265 FOH training manual, including but not limited to:
- Setting and arranging tables according to bookings and service flow.
- Taking reservations, greeting customers, presenting menus and beverage lists, offering initial drinks, and assisting guests to feel comfortable and looked after from seating.
- Taking orders and relaying them to kitchen and bar staff; serving food and beverages, communicating effectively with all relevant parties and both sides of the pass.
- Opening, serving, and pouring beverages, including mixing liquor.
- Assisting in the cellar and with cellar maintenance alongside and under the guidance of the Beverage Team.
- Clearing tables and returning dishes and cutlery to the kitchen.
- Removing empty bottles and used glasses from tables, and refilling and replacing glasses.

- Learn menu items and be able to describe them appropriately to guests.
- Take beverage and food orders.
- Deliver beverages and food in a timely manner.
- Check in with guests to ensure everything is going well.
- Work collaboratively with other servers as a team player.
- Report any customer issues to management.
- Work as part of a team to ensure all tasks are completed in order of priority and within allotted timeframes.
- Respond to and treat colleagues with professional respect and courtesy.
- Be self-motivated, able to follow directions accurately, and work as an integral part of the team.
- Contribute new ideas that may improve guest service or departmental operations.

Skills and Experience:
- At least 1-2 years of experience as a waiter.
- Excellent organisational skills.
