Job Description

3D CAD Engineer / Mechanical Designer

Randstad is partnering with a world-leading technology development company based in Adelaide. This agile organisation designs and manufactures innovative, high-end specialized equipment for a rapidly expanding global infrastructure sector. Their proprietary technology is developed entirely in-house, contributing to their international standing. Due to significant growth, they are expanding their operations and establishing an in-house engineering team, transitioning from outsourced design services. A senior professional is sought to lead this key transition.

This position is not a standard drafting or documentation role; it requires an absolute 3D CAD expert. The client needs a highly advanced modeller capable of taking full ownership of their design environment. Responsibilities extend beyond screen-based work to include conceptual design, workshop floor involvement for machine assembly, and hands-on testing and troubleshooting.

Core responsibilities include:

  • Executing highly advanced 3D CAD modelling and conceptual design for complex industrial machinery and systems.
  • Maintaining, structuring, and optimising the CAD drawing database, including managing revisions, updates, and corrections.
  • Preparing fabrication-ready drawing packs for seamless production.
  • Assisting with part procurement and collaborating with key suppliers.

This role is designed for an experienced professional who can integrate pure engineering design with practical, hands-on application. Candidates are likely to be Mechanical Engineers with extensive workshop experience or experienced Mechanical Tradespeople with advanced design and modelling knowledge.

Requirements:

  • Expert-level 3D CAD modelling capability (non-negotiable).
  • A Mechanical Engineering qualification OR a Mechanical Trade background.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience delivering high-end mechanical/machinery design.

Key attributes:

  • Dedicated and reliable, taking pride in engineering output and machinery performance.
  • Possesses obsessive attention to detail, identifying subtle tolerances and design errors.
  • Agile and responsive, comfortable with rapid changes in an R&D environment.
  • A personable and collaborative individual ready to integrate into a tight-knit team.

This full-time, onsite position is located in Adelaide SA, with a salary of $110k - $130k p.a. plus Super and Bonus.

If you have 5+ years of proven CAD expertise and are ready to take on a pivotal in-house role impacting global infrastructure, please apply. Randstad is committed to providing equal employment opportunities and embracing diversity. Applications from all backgrounds are encouraged.
