Snowy Hydro is a vibrant, integrated energy enterprise that has reliably supplied on-demand energy to Australia for generations. Our operational portfolio comprises significant generation assets, including the renowned Snowy Hydro-electric Scheme, gas and diesel electricity generation facilities, and contracted wind and solar power within the National Electricity Market. Furthermore, through our retail brands, Red Energy and Lumo Energy, we serve over 1.5 million electricity and gas customers. Snowy 2.0, currently under development, represents Australia's largest committed renewable energy initiative. This nationally significant project will deliver on-demand energy and large-scale storage capabilities for many future generations.

We are seeking a proactive Technical Officer (Electrical) to join the Snowy 2.0 project team. This is a crucial role for an experienced electrical professional who is motivated by on-site engagement and possesses the technical acumen to ensure large-scale infrastructure projects meet the highest standards. This position requires an individual who will actively collaborate with site personnel to guarantee quality, safety, and functionality across all electrical work fronts, serving as our on-the-ground technical surveillance and assurance resource.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Active Oversight: Conduct daily physical monitoring at active work fronts to track progress and ensure compliance.
  • Quality Assurance: Collaborate with Quality Engineers to inspect work, manage Witness and Hold Points, and verify adherence to Issued For Construction (IFC) drawings and specifications.
  • Problem Solving: Proactively identify issues and communicate effectively with your Manager and the engineering team to implement prompt solutions.
  • Stakeholder Management: Cultivate strong, transparent, and collaborative relationships with contractors and subcontractors to minimise conflict and achieve successful project outcomes.
  • Documentation: Maintain precise, contemporaneous records and site photographs utilising the ACONEX platform.

About the Location: This role necessitates 100% on-site presence, operating on a 14 days on, 7 days off FIFO roster. Standard FIFO camp-style accommodation is provided.

About You:

  • Qualifications: An Electrical Trade background is highly desirable, supported by relevant training and experience.
  • Communication: Possess highly developed influencing and negotiation skills, with the capacity to communicate effectively with diverse groups.
  • Adaptability: Demonstrate proactivity, a strong aptitude for problem identification, and comfort in managing change within a dynamic work environment.
