Accountant 1834 Hotels | Adelaide SA This is a full-time, onsite position.

We manage a varied collection of hotels, motels, and resorts throughout Australia and New Zealand. About the Role Due to ongoing expansion, 1834 Hotels has created a new opportunity for an experienced Accountant to join our Adelaide Head Office. This role is full-time and based onsite.

This position is well-suited for a finance professional who thrives in a dynamic setting, enjoys collaborating with operational teams, and seeks to make a significant contribution within a growing hospitality business. Experience within the hospitality or hotel industry would be highly regarded.

As the Accountant, you will be integral to supporting the financial operations of our expanding hotel portfolio. Your responsibilities will include ensuring financial accuracy, compliance, and timely reporting across multiple properties. You will work collaboratively with General Managers, Regional Directors, and internal stakeholders, while also contributing to the enhancement of processes and business performance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage weekly cash and bank reconciliations.
  • Post daily sales figures and verify alignment between the Property Management System (PMS) and General Ledger.
  • Oversee accounts payable processes and manage vendor relationships.
  • Process invoices utilising Lightyear or comparable invoice management systems.
  • Prepare monthly journals, financial statements, and management reports.
  • Complete monthly balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Assist with cash flow forecasting and reporting.
  • Partner with General Managers and Regional Directors to support operational performance and profitability.
  • Provide assistance with payroll processing as may be required.
  • Offer support to property teams regarding system queries and daily operational needs.
  • Contribute to annual budgeting and forecasting activities.
  • Identify and implement improvements to processes and systems.

About You To be successful in this role, you will possess:

  • A minimum of 5 years' experience in an accounting role.
  • Strong proficiency with Xero, MYOB, and Excel.
  • A solid understanding of payroll, BAS, and IAS requirements.
  • Experience using Lightyear or a similar invoice processing platform.
  • Excellent attention to detail and strong analytical skills.
  • Outstanding communication and stakeholder management abilities.
  • The capacity to prioritise workloads and meet deadlines within a fast-paced environment.
  • A proactive approach coupled with a mindset focused on continuous improvement.

Qualifications

  • Tertiary qualifications in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field.
  • CA or CPA qualification, or currently working towards certification, would be highly regarded.
