Black Mount Springwater, an Australian-owned national business with over three decades of performance, is seeking a hands-on, commercially minded Chief Financial Officer. Operating across multiple states, the company supplies bulk natural spring and mineral water to leading Australian bottled water brands, underpinned by established customer relationships and a reputation for reliability. With high-quality water sources, a sophisticated logistics network, and a values-led culture, the business is entering a new phase of growth, investment, and operational maturity.

The Opportunity This is a commercial Chief Financial Officer role, deeply embedded within the business and focused on outcomes rather than just reporting. Working directly with the Chief Executive Officer and Chief Operating Officer, you will translate strategy into measurable performance, clarifying drivers of earnings and identifying opportunities for value creation. The business is experiencing genuine momentum, and this role requires a CFO who can bring structure, pace, and insight, while remaining connected to operational realities.

You will:

• Lead budgeting, forecasting, and planning with a clear performance and value lens.
• Drive EBIT growth and margin expansion through disciplined cost and operational initiatives.
• Build visibility across customer, route, asset, and regional profitability.
• Partner with operations to improve fleet utilisation, route efficiency, and asset productivity.
• Develop and embed pricing frameworks aligned to cost-to-serve and return expectations.
• Optimise working capital, cash flow, and capital efficiency.
• Lead capital allocation across fleet, infrastructure, and water assets.
• Serve as the key financial interface with the Board and private equity investors.
• Support strategic growth initiatives, including investment and acquisition opportunities.

This is an active CFO role, offering the chance to engage with detail, influence decisions in real time, and materially improve performance.

The Ideal Person You are a commercially astute, hands-on finance leader who desires to be close to the business and involved in its operations. You go beyond producing numbers, interrogating them, challenging assumptions, and translating insights into action.

You will bring:

• CA or CPA qualifications.
• Experience as a CFO, Finance Director, or Head of Finance in a growth or evolving business.
• Exposure to private equity or investor-led environments.
• A proven ability to improve profitability, cash flow, and operational performance.
• Strong capability across financial modelling, BI tools, and data-led decision-making.
• A background in transport, logistics, infrastructure, agriculture, industrial services, or other asset-heavy environments (Preferred).

Equally important is your operational style. You are hands-on and comfortable with detail, while maintaining a strong strategic focus on margin, return on capital, and long-term value. You exhibit a clear bias for action, pragmatically using data to drive progress rather than waiting for perfection. You partner effectively with operational leaders, influencing outcomes with credibility and clarity, whether in the boardroom or on-site.

Your ability to bridge finance and operations, actively improving performance rather than just reporting it, will set you apart. You see beyond the numbers to identify forward-looking opportunities and understand that value is created through people, assets, pricing, and discipline.
