Accountant - Overstory
Overstory is seeking a permanent, full-time Accountant to contribute to financial reporting, business performance, and continuous improvement within a growing, purpose-driven organisation. This role offers exposure to financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, systems optimisation, and business decision support, working closely with the Finance Manager and Commercial & Systems Manager. It presents an opportunity for an accountant to expand experience beyond traditional compliance and reporting, contributing to process improvement, data-driven decision-making, and meaningful business outcomes.
This position is open to candidates residing in the Margaret River or Perth Metropolitan regions.

About the Role We are looking for an individual who enjoys working with numbers to gain understanding and build strong financial processes that will serve as a foundation for data analysis and identifying key financial insights. This is a newly created role.
The Accountant will:
- Support month-end and year-end accounting processes, including reconciliations, journals, and financial reporting.
- Assist with the preparation of management reports, budgets, forecasts, and cash flow reporting.
- Support the day-to-day finance function through review of accounts payable and receivable activities, cash flow monitoring, reconciliations, and timely resolution of financial queries.
- Contribute to the preparation of tax and statutory compliance obligations across the group.
- Provide financial analysis and insights to support operational and commercial decision-making.
- Maintain and improve financial models, reporting tools, and analytical outputs.
- Support the administration and optimisation of ERP and integrated business systems.
- Identify opportunities to improve financial processes, controls, and reporting efficiency.
- Collaborate with stakeholders across the business and support strategic projects and initiatives as required.
About You You are a motivated and detail-oriented accounting professional who enjoys combining strong technical skills with a broader interest in business performance, systems, and continuous improvement.
Our new team member will bring:
- A degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
- At least 3 years' experience in an accounting or finance role.
- Strong accounting, financial reporting, and analytical skills.
- Experience working with ERP systems, ideally Microsoft Business Central or similar.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to build strong working relationships across the business.
- A proactive, improvement-focused mindset with strong attention to detail.
- An interest in using data and insights to support informed decision-making.
- CPA or CA qualification (or currently working towards completion) will be highly regarded.
- Experience with Power BI or other reporting tools will be advantageous.

We also work with like-minded producers from Europe and beyond, importing their wines into the Australian market, through our East-coast based distribution business, Small Story Merchants.
