About the Role The Accountant will work collaboratively with the Finance Manager, supporting finance, payroll, and reporting functions for the College. This role demands strong analytical skills, meticulous attention to detail, and a cooperative approach to assisting colleagues in understanding financial information.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain the accuracy and integrity of financial data within TASS.
- Prepare timely monthly financial reports, including variance, expenditure, and capital reporting.
- Manage journals, provisions, and reconciliations, encompassing loans and investments.
- Monitor and report on cash flow and overall financial performance.
- Oversee end-to-end fortnightly payroll, including compliance and staff enquiries.
- Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning activities.
- Ensure adherence to financial, audit, and regulatory requirements.
- Assist with government reporting, funding applications, and insurance claims.
You will be part of a collegial and supportive Business Office team. This full-time role offers a competitive salary of $80,000 – $100,000 per year and is available after a notice period of 4-6 weeks.
What You Need to Succeed In addition to relevant qualifications and experience, candidates must be a strong cultural fit within our Christian community. All staff at Rehoboth are expected to be role models to students, actively living out and articulating their faith.
Essential Criteria
- Tertiary qualification in Accounting or Finance.
- CPA or CA qualified, or nearing completion.
- Demonstrated experience in a financial accounting role; experience in a school setting would be advantageous.
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles, reconciliations, and journal preparation.
- Experience with payroll processing, including superannuation, ATO compliance, and leave management.
- Sound understanding of budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.
- Experience preparing financial reports, including cash flow and capital expenditure reporting.
- Familiarity with accounting systems (experience with TASS is highly desirable).
- Strong Excel skills and the ability to work with financial data accurately and efficiently.
- Understanding of compliance requirements, including government reporting and financial regulations.
- Hold or be willing and able to obtain a Working with Children Check.
- Hold or be willing and able to obtain a Department of Education Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check.
