Accounts Officer (Accounts Payable & Accounts Receivable)
The Ethnic Communities Council of Queensland Limited (ECCQ) is seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Accounts Officer to support the efficient operation of its finance function. This full-time, onsite role is based in West End.
This position is responsible for ensuring the accurate and timely processing of invoices, payments, billing, and receivables. You will provide excellent support to internal and external stakeholders and work collaboratively with the finance team to maintain accurate financial records and contribute to effective organisational operations. The role also provides support to payroll processes and assists in maintaining continuity across finance operations when required.
Key Responsibilities:
- Accounts Payable:
- Process supplier invoices accurately in accordance with organisational procedures.
- Ensure invoices are appropriately coded, approved, and recorded in finance systems.
- Prepare payment runs and assist with processing supplier payments.
- Respond to supplier and internal enquiries professionally and promptly.
- Maintain accurate records and supporting documentation.
- Assist with reconciliations and month-end processes.
- Accounts Receivable:
- Prepare and process client invoices and billing transactions.
- Monitor accounts receivable balances and follow up outstanding payments.
- Respond to client and internal enquiries regarding billing and accounts.
- Maintain accurate receivable records within finance systems.
- Assist with receivable reconciliations and reporting.
- General Finance Support:
- Provide cross-support to Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable functions as required.
- Assist with payroll processing as backup during leave or peak periods.
- Support trainees, students, or junior staff where applicable.
- Work collaboratively within the finance team to ensure efficient operations.
- Undertake other duties as reasonably required.
About You:
- Qualifications & Experience:
- Relevant experience in finance, accounting, or administration.
- Relevant tertiary qualification in accounting, finance, or business (desirable).
- Essential Knowledge & Skills:
- Understanding of accounts payable and receivable processes.
- Basic understanding of payroll processes (desirable).
- Strong attention to detail and organisational skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
- Strong communication, problem-solving, and customer service skills.
- Experience using finance systems and Microsoft Excel.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment.
