Accounts Officer
Affinity Nursing is a market leader in regional, rural, and remote travel nursing, serving as a contracted supplier to health departments nationwide. We are seeking an experienced Accounts Officer to join our Finance Team. This role primarily focuses on accounts receivable and accounts payable, with additional finance administration duties. We are looking for an individual who embraces ownership of their work, cultivates strong relationships, and contributes wherever needed within a collaborative team environment.
About the Role
As an Accounts Officer, you will be instrumental in supporting the financial operations of the business. You will take ownership of the accounts payable function, assist with accounts receivable billing processes, and provide general finance administration support to the team. This is a varied position where no two days are the same. Responsibilities may include processing supplier invoices and preparing payments one day, and the next, responding to health department billing enquiries, collaborating with internal teams to ensure accurate billing, or assisting with reporting and month-end activities. We seek an individual who thrives on variety, is organised, proactive, and willing to offer support where required. This role extends beyond transaction processing; every interaction, whether following up on a supplier query, responding to a client billing enquiry, or assisting another department with a finance request, is an opportunity to build professional relationships and deliver excellent service. Working within a small, collaborative Finance Team, you will closely partner with colleagues across the business to ensure smooth finance processes and identify opportunities for efficiency, accuracy, and continuous improvement.
You Will Thrive in This Role If You
- Adopt a relationship-first approach and enjoy building trust with stakeholders.
- Possess exceptional attention to detail and take pride in the accuracy of your work.
- Are comfortable engaging in conversations with clients, suppliers, and stakeholders via phone to resolve issues and maintain strong relationships.
- Thrive in a fast-paced and collaborative environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with colleagues to manage the accounts receivable function, including weekly invoicing, payment allocation, debtor management, and responding to invoice queries.
- Own the accounts payable function, encompassing processing supplier invoices, managing approval processes, preparing payments, reconciling supplier accounts, and handling supplier enquiries.
- Foster positive relationships with clients by resolving billing enquiries and professionally following up on outstanding accounts via phone and email.
- Maintain accurate financial records and ensure finance documentation is complete and up to date.
- Assist with month-end processing, reconciliations, reporting, and audit requirements.
- Provide finance administration support and respond to enquiries from internal stakeholders.
- Identify opportunities to enhance finance processes and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
- Support the broader Finance Team with operational and administrative tasks as needed.
Preferred Experience
- Previous experience in Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, or Finance Administration is required.
- Experience working in a high-volume environment while maintaining exceptional accuracy.
- Experience using Reckon, Salesforce, and advanced Microsoft Excel skills would be highly regarded.
- Previous experience in labour hire, healthcare, or high-volume billing and payroll environments would be highly regarded.
What We Offer
- Ongoing professional development, mentorship, and training opportunities.
- "Friday Fun Day" – with varied themes and activities, no two weeks are the same.
- Opportunity for your dog to apply for the Chief Happiness Officer position and join the pup schedule for office days.
- WFH flexibility, with up to two days per week to support work-life balance.
- The opportunity to work in a meaningful industry supporting nurses, hospitals, and communities across Australia.
