Accounts Payable & Payroll Officer

Summit Business Consultants, a developing and energetic enterprise situated in Western Sydney, is looking for a skilled Accounts Payable & Payroll Officer to become part of our finance division. This position involves taking charge of our accounts payable, payroll, and compliance duties. It is a practical role suitable for a methodical and precise individual who thrives on independent work and values accuracy and efficiency.
The Position Reporting directly to management, your responsibilities will encompass the daily oversight of accounts payable, payroll processing, and compliance activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Accounts Payable:
- Process supplier invoices with accuracy and efficiency using Xero.
- Match purchase orders against invoices.
- Manage supplier statements and perform reconciliations.
- Prepare and execute weekly creditor payment runs.
- Address and resolve supplier queries and outstanding matters.
- Maintain precise creditor records.
- Payroll:
- Process weekly payroll for approximately 40 employees.
- Ensure adherence to Fair Work requirements.
- Manage leave accruals and payroll records.
- Process Superannuation Guarantee (SGC) obligations.
- Prepare Single Touch Payroll (STP) submissions.
- Maintain employee payroll records and associated reporting.
- Compliance & Reporting:
- Prepare monthly BAS working papers.
- Reconcile payroll-related balance sheet accounts.
- Provide assistance with month-end reporting.
- Ensure compliance with ATO requirements.
- Support year-end audit and accounting functions.
Skills & Experience To be successful in this role, you will need:
- A minimum of 5 years' experience in Accounts Payable and Payroll.
- Strong experience using Xero (essential).
- A sound understanding of BAS preparation.
- Knowledge of PAYG withholding, STP, and superannuation obligations.
- Excellent reconciliation skills.
- Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
- Strong attention to detail and organisational capabilities.
- The ability to manage deadlines and multiple priorities.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
Desirable Attributes:
- A bookkeeping qualification or accounting studies.
- Experience working within a medium-sized business.
- Experience with process improvement and automation.
