Accounts Receivable Specialist
Smiths Group is seeking an Accounts Receivable Specialist for a 12-month contract position based in Australia. This onsite role falls within the Finance job function, identified by reference REF5285N.

This is an exciting opportunity for an Accounts Receivable Officer to join a global finance team within a fast-paced, multinational environment. The 12-month fixed-term contract provides exposure to shared services operations and cross-regional collaboration, playing a key role in supporting financial integrity, cash flow management, and timely financial reporting.
Responsibilities include:
- Monitoring customer accounts for timely collections and resolving discrepancies.
- Following up on overdue balances via phone, email, and formal communication.
- Accurately applying incoming payments and maintaining invoice tracking records.
- Preparing customer statements, reconciling accounts, and maintaining ageing reports.
- Updating monthly cash flow forecasts and escalating risks as required.
- Collaborating with Sales, Logistics, and Operations teams on billing issues.
- Ensuring compliance with credit policies and internal controls.
- Performing daily bank reconciliations and uploading transactions into SAP.
- Preparing financial reports and supporting journal postings and balance sheet reconciliations for AU & NZ entities.
- Assisting with month-end and year-end close activities.
- Providing audit support and documentation.
- Driving continuous improvement initiatives within Accounts Receivable processes.
Qualifications required:
- A minimum of 2 years of Accounts Receivable experience.
- A Bachelor’s Degree in Commerce, Accounting, or a related field.
- A strong understanding of AR processes, including billing, collections, and reconciliation.
- Experience working with ERP systems; SAP is preferred.
- Advanced proficiency in MS Excel and Microsoft Office.
- Knowledge of GST compliance and regulatory requirements.
- Strong analytical, organisational, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently with high accuracy and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication skills with fluency in English.
- Ability to collaborate with cross-functional and regional stakeholders.

- Experience in a Shared Services or multinational environment.
- Strong SAP transaction processing and reporting exposure.
- Experience supporting multi-entity or cross-country finance operations.
- A proven track record in process improvement initiatives.
- Strong stakeholder management and relationship-building capabilities.
