This program, now in its second year, is designed for early-career engineers seeking hands-on experience beyond a traditional office setting. Whether you are a recent graduate or possess up to five years of post-graduate experience, this is an opportunity to gain practical experience in Brisbane, with travel to Stanwell and Tarong Power Stations.

Why Stanwell?

  • Real-World Experience: While based in Brisbane, this role includes site visits to Tarong Power Station (South Burnett) and Stanwell Power Station (Rockhampton).
  • Learn from Industry Leaders: You will work alongside RPEQ-qualified engineers and experienced professionals dedicated to mentoring emerging talent.
  • Tailored Development: Benefit from a personalised development path and exposure to a variety of engineering challenges.
  • Flexible Start: There is no fixed start date; the program accommodates your availability.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop a comprehensive understanding of Stanwell’s operational systems and processes, including electricity generation.
  • Document existing system architecture and data infrastructure, covering aspects such as "as-built" status, topology, technology, and knowledge base.
  • Create clear and usable documentation to facilitate system understanding and maintenance by others.
  • Develop, test, and implement data analytics and visualisations to provide insights into asset health and performance, supporting timely business decisions.
  • Collaborate with business stakeholders to deliver solutions using various digital toolsets.
  • Work across multiple teams, including ICT, Operations, Engineering, and Trading, to understand system interconnections and their support of the broader business.
  • Contribute to the ongoing improvement, maintenance, governance, and performance monitoring of data systems and standards.
  • Adhere to reasonable directions and Stanwell processes and systems to ensure personal and collective safety, health, wellbeing, and psychosocial safety during business activities.

What You'll Receive:

  • A structured development program spanning two years.
  • Flexible work arrangements may be available.
  • A competitive salary, commensurate with your experience and prior career background.
  • Professional development support from the Learning & Capability team.
  • Relocation support to assist with your move and settlement in the Brisbane region.
  • Mentorship from professionals committed to your success.
  • Career pathways with a strong pipeline into ongoing roles within Stanwell, subject to position availability.

About You:

  • You are completing or have recently completed a Bachelor of Mechatronics (ideal), Data Engineering, Computer Science, or a similar degree within the last five years.
  • You possess a strong interest in large-scale process operations and maintenance management.
  • You are interested in how systems support real-world operations, beyond just the data.
  • You have the ability to understand and logically work through complex systems.
  • You demonstrate strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
  • You are willing to relocate to Brisbane, with relocation assistance provided.
  • You hold full working rights in Australia and a valid driver’s licence.

Application Process:

  1. Application: Submit your CV and cover letter, detailing what drives you.
  2. Video Interview: An opportunity to showcase your personality and potential.
  3. Site Engagement Centre: Scheduled for 17 September 2026, this event allows you to meet the team, tour the site, and explore your potential future.
  4. Pre-employment Screening: Includes background and reference checks, and verification of your right to work.

This is your opportunity to build a meaningful engineering career directly involved in the work.
