Asset Engineer, Civil/Structural

University of Wollongong (UOW)

The University of Wollongong is seeking an Asset Engineer (Civil / Structural) to contribute to its position as a globally recognised institution.

About the Opportunity This role offers the chance to provide specialised asset engineering expertise for the management and optimisation of UOW's civil and structural infrastructure across its New South Wales campuses. This encompasses a range of assets including buildings, pavements, drainage systems, retaining walls, bridges, and broader site infrastructure, with a focus on ensuring their safety, compliance, and sustained long-term performance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Undertake lifecycle asset management activities, including condition assessments, deterioration modelling, risk evaluations, and renewal planning.
  • Perform structural inspections and analyse asset performance to inform decision-making and reporting.
  • Offer technical civil and structural engineering advice and support for capital works planning, design reviews, and project delivery.
  • Promote ongoing improvements in asset data quality, systems, and processes.

About the Team This position is part of the Infrastructure and Property Division, which is responsible for the planning, development, and management of UOW's campuses and built environment. The team operates collaboratively to create safe, sustainable, and innovative environments that support teaching, research, and community objectives.

What You Will Bring

  • Tertiary qualifications in Civil or Structural Engineering.
  • Experience in civil/structural engineering within complex environments.
  • A strong understanding of Australian Standards, the National Construction Code (NCC), Work Health and Safety (WHS) regulations, and compliance requirements.
  • Capability in lifecycle asset management and data-driven decision-making.
  • Proficiency in stakeholder engagement and communication.

  • Salary: $96,898 - $119,986 per annum plus 17% superannuation
  • Location: Wollongong Campus
  • Work Type: Onsite
  • Visa Requirements: Valid Australian work rights are required.
