The company delivers innovative products and experienced analysts to address Australia's most complex EW challenges, including mission planning support, threat simulator receivers for airborne training and operations, and ground-based counter radio-controlled improvised explosive device EW systems. Role:
Reporting to the Finance Director, the Assistant Accountant will support SRC Aus’s expanding Defence portfolio within a high-performing finance team. This role involves managing core finance processes such as payroll, accounts receivable, and accounts payable, alongside maintaining precise financial records and contributing to financial and management reporting.
Key Responsibilities:
- Processing fortnightly payroll to ensure accurate and timely employee payments.
- Performing accounts receivable functions, including generating customer invoices and allocating incoming payments.
- Managing the accurate and timely payment of supplier invoices and employee reimbursements.
- Preparing and posting month-end journals, ensuring entries are accurate, well-supported, and completed within specified timeframes.
- Maintaining data feeds into the accounting system.
- Supporting the development of annual budgets and monthly forecasts for P&L, balance sheet, capital, and cashflow.
- Supporting the preparation of monthly management reports.
- Supporting project cost control, including cost tracking and reporting assistance.
Skills, Experience, and Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Commerce, Finance, or a related field.
- 1+ years of experience in an Assistant Accountant, Bookkeeper, or similar finance role.
- Strong Excel skills and accounting knowledge.
- A focus on continuous improvement.
- Strong interpersonal and relationship management skills.
- Prior experience within a project-based environment and using Xero will be highly regarded.
- Must be eligible to obtain and maintain an Australian Government (Defence) Security Clearance. Eligibility information is available at http://www.defence.gov.au/agsva.
