Assistant Manager, CFO Advisory
BDO Australia
BDO is a global professional services firm with deep local market connections. Our teams collaborate to offer specialised expertise, assisting businesses in achieving their objectives. We foster inspiration to push boundaries, create solutions collaboratively to reach new heights, and build trust to lead with purpose. Whether you are developing your future or commencing your career with us, you will be supported. We shape what matters, from client solutions to career development, and this is where you fit in.
About the Role
Join us as we establish a new CFO Advisory capability, led by a new partner in our Perth office. As part of this dynamic local team, you will have a distinct chance to help shape our local offering from its inception, while also contributing to an existing national delivery framework. You will support clients in both the public and private sectors as they develop, enhance, and transform their finance functions. Our focus is on providing timely, high-quality financial information that closely aligns with each client's business objectives. This role is dynamic, with each week presenting new challenges and opportunities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with clients to optimise or establish finance functions, aiming for increased efficiency and effectiveness.
- Apply your audit, business services, or commercial expertise to identify and address fundamental issues, driving change beyond mere compliance.
- Engage with senior leaders, including CEOs, CFOs, and Board members, to develop governance structures tailored to organisational needs.
- Provide technical accounting guidance aligned with client commercial goals.
- Partner with cross-functional teams to deliver practical, integrated solutions.
- Enhance decision-making capabilities through improved financial information and streamlined processes.
- Support clients throughout their year-end Financial Reporting and Sustainability Reporting audit cycles.
This position offers the opportunity to become a trusted advisor to our clients. At times, you may be embedded within a client's finance team, providing valuable, hands-on commercial experience. If you thrive on tackling complex challenges in a collaborative environment and are committed to delivering high-quality, practical outcomes for clients, this role may be an excellent fit.
About You
- Proven experience in audit, business services, or commerce.
- CA or CPA qualified, or close to completion.
- A curious mindset and a desire to work collaboratively within the team and with other BDO teams.
- Motivated to make a difference and deliver value to clients.
- A sound understanding of finance functions, including systems and processes.
