Mars Recruitment is seeking an Assistant Manager - Regulatory Reporting & Data Governance on behalf of a globally recognised international banking organisation. This role presents a significant opportunity to integrate with a high-achieving finance division within a prominent international bank.
Reporting to the Director, this position involves a central function in the preparation and supervision of regulatory reporting, financial control, and data governance tasks. You will collaborate closely with Head Office, regional teams, auditors, and regulatory bodies. The role provides extensive insight into APRA reporting, financial reporting, data governance, and finance transformation, making it suitable for individuals aiming to advance their careers in banking finance.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare, review, and oversee the submission of APRA, ABS, and RBA regulatory returns, ensuring precision and adherence to submission deadlines.
- Monitor evolving regulatory landscapes, evaluate their implications for reporting obligations, and implement necessary adjustments to systems and procedures.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for regulatory reporting matters, engaging with regulators, auditors, and internal stakeholders.
- Prepare Head Office reporting for quarterly, half-yearly, and annual cycles.
- Execute month-end accounting procedures, including journal entries, reconciliations, and intercompany reporting.
- Uphold the accuracy and completeness of financial data within reporting systems, while contributing to wider data governance efforts.
- Identify avenues for enhancing reporting processes, automating manual tasks, and reinforcing financial controls.
- Provide support for finance projects, system upgrades, and the continuous development of reporting frameworks.
- Guide and mentor junior team members, fostering a collaborative and high-performing finance environment.
Requirements:
- CA or CPA qualification.
- Approximately 5+ years of experience in accounting, financial reporting, or regulatory reporting, with a preference for experience within the banking or financial services sector.
- A robust understanding of APRA regulatory reporting mandates and Australian banking regulations.
- Proficiency in advanced Excel and strong analytical capabilities.
- Experience utilising regulatory reporting systems and managing large financial datasets.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities, with a capacity to cultivate relationships across local and international teams.
- A proactive approach coupled with a commitment to continuous improvement and process optimisation.
