Bookkeeper & Administration Assistant

About the Role This position integrates bookkeeping, administration, and customer service within our boutique accounting practice. It is a flexible part-time role, specifically scheduled for Fridays, with hours and arrangements open for discussion with the suitable candidate. This is an onsite role; work-from-home arrangements are not available. An immediate start is possible, though applications are welcomed from candidates needing to complete a notice period.
You will engage with a varied portfolio of client files across numerous industries, offering exposure to diverse businesses, systems, and challenges, thereby continuously enhancing your knowledge and skills within the accounting profession.
Your Responsibilities
- Client bookkeeping, primarily utilising Xero.
- Preparation and lodgement of BAS and IAS.
- ATO Online Services administration and lodgements.
- Payroll processing knowledge.
- Preparation and lodgement of Taxable Payments Annual Reports (TPAR).
- Liaising with the Australian Taxation Office (ATO).
- Answering telephones and responding to client enquiries.
- Assisting clients with bookkeeping setup and ongoing maintenance.
- Managing bookings and appointments.
- Supporting the Office Manager to ensure the front office is organised and operates efficiently.
- General administration and office support.

Essential Requirements
- A bookkeeping qualification or current Xero Certification.
- Previous bookkeeping experience, including BAS and IAS preparation.
- Solid administration experience.
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
- Strong computer literacy and the ability to quickly learn new software and cloud-based systems.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
