Capita Business Advisors and Tax Consultants is a growing CPA public practice offering accounting, taxation, bookkeeping, and business advisory services to individuals and businesses throughout Australia. Our focus is on delivering excellent client service, adopting technology, and cultivating enduring client relationships.
This full-time, onsite position in Coburg places you in a vital support role for our clients and the daily operations of the practice. You will work closely with the Principal Accountant and senior team members, contributing through bookkeeping, accounting, taxation support, and outstanding customer service. This role is suited for an individual who enjoys client interaction, takes pride in accuracy, and wishes to advance their accounting career.
Key Responsibilities:
- Process bookkeeping tasks using Xero and other cloud accounting software.
- Undertake bank reconciliations, accounts payable, and accounts receivable.
- Provide assistance with payroll, Single Touch Payroll (STP), and superannuation processing.
- Support BAS preparation and associated supporting workpapers.
- Prepare individual income tax returns and offer assistance with business taxation engagements.
- Generate client correspondence and maintain precise electronic client records.
- Manage incoming telephone calls and deliver exceptional customer service.
- Schedule appointments, manage filing, and assist with general office administration.
- Liaise with clients to gather necessary information and documentation.
- Support the team with workflow management and other practice administration duties.
- Uphold client confidentiality and adhere to the firm's quality management policies and procedures.
- Assist in onboarding new clients, including setting up accounting software and managing client records.
About You:
To be successful in this role, you will ideally possess:
- A Bachelor's degree in Accounting, either completed or nearing completion.
- A minimum of 2 years of experience in Australian public practice or bookkeeping.
- Proficiency in using Xero and other cloud accounting software.
- Experience with bookkeeping, payroll, BAS preparation, and general accounting support.
- Experience in preparing individual income tax returns.
- Excellent customer service and telephone communication skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication abilities.
- Exceptional organisational skills and a keen eye for detail.
- The ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines.
- A positive attitude and a willingness to learn.
CPA or CA studies, or an intention to commence professional studies, will be highly regarded.
