Bookkeeper
Higgsin Tonna & Co, a well-established accounting firm in Moorebank, is seeking an experienced Bookkeeper to become part of its expanding team. The firm serves small-to-medium business owners across various industries, offering bookkeeping, accounting, tax, and business advisory services. This onsite, part-time role offers a salary of $65,000 – $95,000 per year (prorated) plus superannuation, commensurate with experience.
The Opportunity:
This is a hands-on position for an individual who takes pride in their work quality and is seeking a long-term career in a firm dedicated to professional development. You will manage a portfolio of small-to-medium business clients, overseeing their daily bookkeeping and accounting requirements and ensuring timely and accurate compliance.
Responsibilities:
- Perform full bank reconciliations for multiple clients and entities.
- Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable functions.
- Conduct end-to-end payroll processing, including Single Touch Payroll (STP) and superannuation remittances.
- Prepare and lodge Business Activity Statements (BAS) and Instalment Activity Statements (IAS).
- Process month-end journals, including accruals, prepayments, and depreciation.
- Maintain fixed asset registers.
- Prepare year-end workpapers.
- Manage a client portfolio with direct client interaction.
- Support and review the work of junior bookkeeping staff.
Requirements:
- 3–5+ years of bookkeeping or accounting experience within an Australian accounting firm or bookkeeping practice.
- Strong Xero skills, including payroll, BAS, bank feeds, and reporting.
- Experience with Xero Practice Manager (XPM).
- A solid understanding of GST, BAS, and PAYG obligations.
- Experience with month-end close and balance sheet reconciliations.
- A Certificate IV in Accounting & Bookkeeping, an Accounting degree, or equivalent experience.
- The ability to work autonomously and as part of a team.
- Excellent communication and client relationship skills.
- Full Australian working rights are required at the time of application.
