Our client is looking for an experienced Branch Accountant to join their expanding organisation during a significant period of change. This new position will be responsible for establishing and leading the local finance operations, managing daily finance activities, financial reporting, compliance, payroll, and process enhancements. Reporting to senior management, you will collaborate with operational leaders and external accountants, and supervise the Assistant Accountant.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee the complete accounts receivable process, including collections, allocations, customer account management, and credit control.
- Manage the accounts payable process.
- Review and authorise financial transactions such as invoices and credit notes.
- Coordinate payroll administration with the outsourced provider, involving timesheet review, approvals, and processing.
- Monitor cash flow, banking operations, and working capital to support business activities.
- Liaise with external accountants on BAS, tax obligations, statutory compliance, and month-end reporting.
- Prepare month-end reports, financial analysis, budget support, and assist with audit needs.
- Develop, document, and implement accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls as the finance function transitions onshore.
- Provide ad hoc operational assistance.
- Manage and support the Assistant Accountant, ensuring accurate and prompt processing of accounts payable, accounts receivable, and other finance tasks.
Candidate Requirements:
- Previous experience in a comprehensive accounting or bookkeeping role with oversight of the entire finance function.
- Substantial experience in accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll supervision, month-end procedures, and financial reporting.
- Capacity to establish new processes and identify areas for efficiency improvements.
- A practical, hands-on approach with the confidence to work effectively with operational and blue-collar teams.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.
- Strong organisational capabilities with the skill to manage multiple tasks.
- Experience with Pronto and/or Wage Easy is highly regarded.
