The Department of Planning, Housing and Infrastructure (DPHI) is establishing a talent pool for current and future Business Advisor positions. This is a permanent, full-time opportunity. The office location is negotiable, based in Parramatta, with flexible working arrangements supported.
Salary is commensurate with experience, ranging from $113,574 to $125,720 per annum, plus superannuation.

As a Business Advisor, you will provide financial expertise and business support for a varied portfolio of property and development projects. You will collaborate with project teams and stakeholders, assisting with project initiation, budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, and performance analysis to support informed decision-making and successful project completion. Your work will offer valuable insights for the effective management of public assets and investment outcomes benefiting the people of NSW.
In this collaborative and dynamic role, you will partner with a wide range of stakeholders to deliver accurate financial information, monitor project performance, and identify areas for ongoing improvement. Your responsibilities will include preparing financial and management reports, analysing trends and risks, contributing to budgeting and reforecasting, and supporting the integrity of financial systems, processes, and data. What You Will Bring to the Role:
- Relevant tertiary qualifications in Accounting, Commerce, Business, or a related field.
- Demonstrated experience in financial and management accounting, including budgeting, forecasting, reporting, and financial analysis.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the capacity to interpret financial and operational data and provide practical recommendations.
- Proven ability to manage competing priorities and achieve quality outcomes in a fast-paced and evolving environment.
- Well-developed communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to convey financial information to diverse audiences.
- A collaborative and customer-focused approach, with a demonstrated ability to foster effective working relationships across teams and business units.
- Sound knowledge of financial governance, accounting principles, compliance requirements, and risk management practices.
- Experience with AASB 16 / IFRS 16 lease accounting is desirable but not essential.
Essential Requirement:
- Relevant tertiary qualifications in accounting, business, or commerce fields; experience and knowledge of financial and management accounting.
