We serve older individuals, people with disabilities, and their carers, with a particular focus on those from culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) backgrounds. Operating across the Sydney metropolitan area, MC delivers a wide array of essential services designed to support client independence while respecting cultural and linguistic requirements.
Position Overview
The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) is a vital executive leadership position responsible for guiding MC's financial sustainability. Reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO), the CFO will identify and advance opportunities for business improvement. This role involves close collaboration with the Chief Operating Officer (COO) to implement changes that enhance operational effectiveness, service delivery, and long-term financial growth.
As a strategic partner to the CEO and the Board, the CFO will direct all financial, risk management, and technology functions. The objective is to ensure robust governance, forward-thinking financial planning, and digital innovation that supports the organisation’s strategic aims. The CFO will lead a small finance team, providing guidance and mentorship to foster high performance and alignment with MC’s objectives.
Key Responsibilities
- Financial Strategy & Organisational Growth
- Develop and implement a long-term financial strategy to ensure MC’s financial health and sustainability.
- Lead financial planning, analysis, and forecasting to inform Board and executive-level strategic decisions.
- Identify and implement measures for financial efficiency to optimise resource allocation, cost control, and revenue generation.
- Drive investment and funding strategies to support MC’s growth, innovation, and digital transformation.
- Provide high-level financial reporting and risk analysis to the CEO and Board, ensuring sound financial governance and compliance.
- Forecast return on investment (ROI) for current and future programs.
- Develop and monitor budgets; coordinate audit activities, and present monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements to executives and the Board of Directors.
- Translate complex financial data into clear, actionable insights for stakeholders, ensuring financial information is communicated simply and directly.
- Maintain and oversee financial controls and accounting procedures to ensure compliance with accounting standards.
- Manage cash flow, liquidity, and working capital to ensure financial stability and sustainability.
- Lead the preparation of financial reports, including variance analysis and recommendations for corrective actions.
- Digital Transformation & IT Leadership
- Develop and oversee a robust digital transformation strategy to modernise MC’s operations, improve data-driven decision-making, and enhance service delivery.
- Lead the implementation of advanced IT systems, cybersecurity frameworks, and automation tools to drive efficiency and scalability.
- Ensure seamless integration of technology across financial, operational, and service delivery functions.
- Oversee IT risk management, compliance, and data security to protect organisational integrity.
- Collaborate with the COO to align digital transformation initiatives with broader organisational improvements.
- Risk Management, Compliance & Governance
- Establish and maintain strong financial controls, risk management frameworks, and governance structures.
- Ensure compliance with all statutory, regulatory, and funding body requirements across financial and IT functions.
- Lead internal and external audit processes, ensuring best practices in financial and IT governance.
- Identify key financial and technological risks and implement proactive mitigation strategies.
- Business Transformation, Change Management & Process Optimisation
- Lead and manage financial process improvements to ensure efficiency and effectiveness in financial operations.
- Work closely with the COO to identify and implement business transformation initiatives that enhance operational efficiency and service quality.
- Drive change management strategies to support the successful adoption of new financial systems and processes.
- Develop frameworks for data analytics and business intelligence to inform strategic decision-making.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement and innovation within the finance and IT teams.
- Leadership & Organisational Collaboration
- Provide strategic leadership to finance and IT teams, ensuring alignment with MC’s broader organisational objectives.
- Mentor and develop high-performing teams, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and excellence.
- Engage with stakeholders across departments to drive financial literacy, digital adoption, and operational alignment.
- Ensure the implementation of workforce planning, talent retention, and upskilling strategies in finance and IT functions.
