Ekistica is a professional advisory and technical consultancy firm operating from Central Australia. We possess extensive experience in delivering innovative solutions for the complex challenges of remote area infrastructure development across Australia, the Pacific, South Asia, and beyond. Wholly owned by the Indigenous-controlled Centre for Appropriate Technology Ltd, and with a heritage spanning over forty years of working with remote and regional communities, our vision is a world where location is no longer a barrier to positive technical outcomes, enabling people, communities, and businesses to reach their full potential through the appropriation of technology. We achieve this by providing high-quality, independent technical advisory, design engineering, and project delivery services to a diverse range of national and international clients, including development banks/organisations, utilities, remote community service organisations, start-ups, investment firms, and government.

You will join a dynamic team of over thirty professional engineers, project managers, engagement specialists, and data analysts. Your role will involve contributing to and leading the delivery of challenging projects. These projects encompass infrastructure, masterplanning, and essential services in remote Indigenous communities, off-grid and utility-scale renewable energy systems, water and wastewater treatment planning, and waste resource recovery.

As a mid-career engineer (civil, structural, or environmental), you will share our dedication to developing regional and remote areas and possess a desire to make a tangible difference. With broad project experience, including engineering design, you will collaborate with clients and team members to bring ideas and projects to fruition.

Your Capabilities Will Include:

Required:

• A Bachelor Degree or higher qualification in Civil Engineering or a closely related discipline.
• A minimum of 10 years of relevant civil engineering experience, including significant experience working within Australian engineering standards and regulatory frameworks or equivalent.
• At least 5 years of design experience in one or more of the following areas: roads, stormwater, water, wastewater, waste management, foundations, industrial buildings, structures, or power system infrastructure.
• The ability to communicate clearly, both verbally and in writing, with a diverse range of people.
• Demonstrated initiative and the ability to work under minimal supervision, as well as collaboratively within a team.
• Chartered status or actively pursuing chartership.

Desirable:

• Effective contractor engagement and management.
• Proven capabilities in project management, construction management, and project delivery.
• Experience managing procurement processes and contract management.
• High-quality relationship management skills, with the ability to engage project stakeholders and develop ongoing strong client relationships.
• Experience living or working in regional or remote Australia.

This position is full-time and based in Ekistica's offices in Alice Springs, with travel to project sites in Australia and potentially overseas.

Ekistica offers 5 weeks of annual leave, flexible working arrangements, an annual professional development allowance, and legislated superannuation in addition to base salary. Further benefits include annual CPI adjustments to base salary and a bonus structure. This structure incorporates an annual personal performance bonus of up to 5% of salary (exclusive of legislated superannuation contributions, which are additional) and a share of the Employee Profit Share Pool, distributed annually to staff proportionate to their base salary and length of employment with Ekistica.
