The Opportunity
We are seeking an experienced Civil Engineer to join our Engineering Department. This role is suited for a technically adept, hands-on engineer with a background in planning and designing civil maintenance and project works, and managing tasks from inception through to completion. You will contribute to a variety of works, from minor site enhancements to involvement in major projects, while coordinating with contractors and internal stakeholders to achieve safe, high-quality, on-time, and within-budget outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- In consultation with consultants and internal customers, develop proposals, scopes of work, cost estimates, construction plans, and drawings for plant modifications and new projects.
- Develop tender documentation and collaborate with the Procurement team to manage the tendering process for new civil project works.
- Plan and coordinate civil maintenance works, including raising and closing work orders, developing scopes of work, cost estimates, and timelines.
- Provide engineering, design, and technical advice as required.
- Maintain plant infrastructure, roads, and civil and structural facilities to ensure maximum efficiency.
- Supervise site project works with a focus on safety, adherence to site procedures, quality, cost control, and accuracy.
- Provide regular reports to the Maintenance Superintendent on site activities, job progress, cost variances, and emerging issues.
- Coordinate with government departments to obtain permits for new works and ensure compliance with reporting requirements.
- Issue excavation permits.
- Promote a safe working environment, investigate incidents, and complete corrective actions within agreed timeframes.
- Promote a positive company image among consultants, contractors, and the local community.
About You
You will possess:
- Tertiary qualifications in Civil Engineering (or a related discipline).
- A minimum of three years’ post-graduate experience.
- Eligibility to obtain RPEQ status or the ability to attain RPEQ shortly after commencement.
- Experience within a refinery or processing plant (desirable).
- The ability to manage multiple tasks with varying priorities.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Advanced computer skills, including Microsoft Office (particularly Excel and Word).
- Proficiency in the use of a CMMS (JD Edwards experience highly regarded).
